I’ve been a little MIA from the blogging world this month. But I have a good excuse. In the span of 7 days, I traveled from the Dominican Republic to Philadelphia to Denver to Tokyo. In Philly, I was busy visiting friends, enjoying Easter and walking around in the beautiful spring weather. In Denver, I spent most of my time unpacking, repacking and doing laundry. Since I’ve been in Japan, I’ve been busy doing touristy activities. All of that equals no time for cooking. You’d think that all the plane time would have allowed me to make progress on my knitting, but the inflight entertainment unit with hundreds of movies kept me occupied for 13 hours en route to Japan.
Although I haven’t been cooking, I’ve been eating really well. During my six months living in the DR, I had no access to any Asian food. I’m catching up on lost time during these three weeks in Japan…sushi, Korean bbq, udon, Thai. I haven’t eaten anything bad yet. Japan is food lovers heaven. The picture above is what I ate for lunch yesterday. Can you see Buddah’s face? The eggs are his eyes, the fish cake is the nose and the pickled ginger is the mouth. I’ve been taking more pictures of shrines and temples than of my food, but if I remember to photograph more meals before devouring them, I’ll be sure to post here.
